Future goals – 2006 and beyond

Hutton Cranswick in Bloom plans to continue

to add colour and interest to all public areas of the village

to identify areas where more extensive planting can be done

to research new ideas for innovative displays

to encourage residents to enhance their own environments

to reduce the amount of litter on the village green and along the streets

to encourage more local industries to actively improve their own grounds and to provide sponsorship for village developments

to work in partnership with the Parish Council, the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Northern Rail.

Funding

We rely on our Parish Council/East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the maintenance of the village green, extensive verges and grassed areas. To supplement a small annual precept from our Parish Council, we raise funds by various means and apply for appropriate grant aid, when the opportunity arises.

We do not have additional, public funded, local authority input – all our planting, watering and maintenance is carried out by willing volunteers from all sections of the community.

Specific funding

The Tree Council covered 75% of the cost of native trees planted along the access road to Gatehouse Lake.

The tree planting along the Beverley Road, referred to on page 6, is funded by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

A grant of £900 has been approved by the East Riding Ponds Project for the improvement of the village pond. This grant has to be matched, either in terms of money or labour and equipment, by a contribution from the village.

A total of £2000 was secured from the Community Chest Fund for renovation of Platform 1 station garden & the S&R entrance.
