As with some of the other visitors to this interesting site, I am tracing my family tree. My ancestors are the DOWSON family. My great great grandfather, Frederick Appleby Dowson was born in Hutton Cranswick in 1864. His brothers Thomas, James and Herbert were also born here. Their parents were Caleb and Jane Dowson (born in Skerne and Thwing) and in 1881 they lived at North Side Street.
