Village Life . . .

Village life is so much fun
With chance to meet most everyone
Where life runs at a slower pace
And being last is no disgrace

Where neighbours greet you with a smile
And find the time to spare a while
To proffer help or give a hand
With problems they may understand
When days are long with things awry
A friend in need will help you by

The village school, such pure delight
It’s happy children, smart and bright
Their lessons taught with loving care
With friends abounding everywhere
The future is for them we know
From seeds we plant is that we grow

The church, the spire, the alter too
With love and friendship there for you
Though shops be small and somewhat few
Care is waiting there for you

The Parish ‘Mag’, the village pride
Giving news and views from far and wide
Of progress made or to expect
Of dangers rising from neglect
Its stories told in such a way
To stimulate ones thoughts to stay

The village hall, a place to meet
To dance, to sing, to have a treat
The hall is where you can denote
A cross for whom you wish to vote
The stalls with things both old and new
Are marshaled bv the faithfull few

Groups have formed to care and feed
The wants of those who are in need
Be it baby care or sport for all
Someone’s there to heed the call
A mobile library, optician too
With a railway service passing through

The village green, the duck pond bold
Natures beauty to behold
The dawn that breaks, the birds that sing
To spend ones days remembering
The gnarled old oak, the chestnut tree
Cherished safe for all to see

Village life is so much fun
With chance to meet most everyone
Where life runs at a slower pace
And being last is no disgrace
